Hosting a Concert:

Arrival:

We will give you an estimated arrival time. This is typically one hour prior to the Saturday evening Mass. Sometimes our arrival will vary based on travel delays. We will call or text with updates the day of our arrival. Please be sure that Michael has a current cell phone number that he can text with travel updates.

After parking, we would like the see the location of the concert if possible. This is also a good time to meet the priest or other staff as necessary. If the space is available early, then we may choose to set up immediately.

Set-up:

Please account for a full 3 hours prior to concert start time. This is a comfortable amount of time for set-up, sound check, and other preparations.  If the space is not available for that length of time, please let us know in advance so we can plan on a fast or alternate set-up.

Space & Equipment:

We request a performing space that is 24 feet wide by 16 feet deep. This can be a raised platform or floor level. We can accommodate spaces as small as 18 feet wide by 12 feet deep. Please let us know if your performance space will include a step, ramp or any other obstacles.

For the full effect of the concert, it is best if the room can be made very dim for the concert. This may include temporarily covering widows for the event.

Because of the style of music and set up time required, it is our preference to be in a social hall instead of the church. If the sanctuary is the best space available, just be sure that the pastor is OK with the set-up and the style of music. Often the Blessed Sacrament will be relocated during the concert.

We will need power accessible from the stage area. Two separate outlets, on two separate circuits. This will keep us from blowing a fuse during the show. We have 50 foot extension cords available. If two circuits are not available, let us know and we will turn off portions of the lighting so that the sound of the show is not interrupted by a power outage..

We will set up a table for selling CD's and merchandise. This should be close to the entrance or near refreshments if they are served. We request one competent adult volunteer who can help at the merchandise table 20 minutes before the concert, during the concert, and 20 minutes after. The band members can handle most of the sales, but are not able to supervise the table at all times.

Please plan on dark or dim lighting. We will provide lighting for the stage area.

The Concert:

It is preferred if the host provides an introduction before the concert. This can be a short story about how you met Michael or a summary of his bio. Please end the introduction by saying "Please welcome MJM7!" and begin clapping. After the announcement, the band will go directly into the first song. (Our last name "Mette" rhymes with "Spaghetti.")

Michael will clearly announce when it is time for the collection. The band will pass out donor envelopes and pens. This happens about 3/4 through the show.

CLEAN UP:

After the concert, the band will go to the door and sales table for 20 minutes before they begin cleaning up.

It generally takes about 45 minutes to tear down the music equipment and load the trailer. Often a couple of people volunteer to help wrap cables or carry cases. That is appreciated. Plan on having someone available to lock the doors about 1 hour and 15 min after the concert ends.
